AJ & the Bucks: One Fabulous Trio

ROH 2015/1/24

Matt Sydal, Cedric Alexander, ACH vs. Bullet Club (AJ Styles, Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson)

The best ROH match I’ve seen in a long ass while, this was tons of fun, the entire second half was nonstop moves and crazy 6-man tag action but everything was coherent and made sense. AJ and ACH built well towards their pay-per-view singles encounter. AJ and the Bucks make for one helluva trio and I see they’re booked for Chikara’s King of Trios tournament, that’s so awesome.

Wrestle-1 2015/2/13

Ikemen Samurai (Masakatsu Funaki & Jiro Kuroshio) vs. New Wild Order (AKIRA & Manabu Soya)

Good tag team match with Kuroshio as a centerpiece of storytelling. I didn’t like him before, but all this teaming with Masa Funaki is doing wonders for him, they’re such an unusual duo and it works for both. Soya was excellent in this one, by the way.

Masato Tanaka vs. KAI

Typical Masato Tanaka tussles have both good and not so good parts. However, the good parts can be really fucking great sometimes and save the match, and that was the case here. He didn’t do his table spot, which is nice. KAI is on the winning streak and ready for a shot at Muto.

Wrestle-1 Tag Championship: Too Sharp (Minoru Tanaka & Seiki Yoshioka) vs. Team 246 (Kaz Hayashi & Shuji Kondo) ©

Mostly lifeless match. Minoru is still awesome, though, and you’d think the fallman should be obvious here, but take a better look. Basically, those two things saved the match from being bad. I could live without seeing another Kaz Hayashi match ever again. I wish Kondo would break away already.

Yusuke Kodama vs. Seiki Yoshioka

Solid match between the young guys, but could’ve/should’ve been better. I did like the BattleARTS inspired strikes, though. :)

Masato Tanaka vs. Shuji Kondo

A Masato Tanaka match. Too bad Kondo’s carryjob button wasn’t on the whole time.

KAI, Ryota Hama, Yasufumi Nakanoue vs. Keiji Muto, Masakatsu Funaki, Shotaro Ashino

Very good, hard working 6-man tag with constant movement and well executed spots.

AAA 2015/1/30

Chessman & Averno vs. Angelico & Jack Evans

I don’t care for Angelico, I don’t care for Evans, and I especially don’t care for their shitty “urban crackas youth” tag team. I’m usually the biggest Chessman advocate on internet, but he was truly awful here. Cibernetico entered post-match and got CRAZY ovations, however that beatdown was horrible and very poorly executed. Of course the table didn’t break. What a DUD!

AAA 2015/1/30

Mini Abismo Negro, Mini Charly Manson, Mini Psycho Clown vs. Mascarita Sagrada, Octagonito, Mini Drago

Good, fun minis action, they built well to the nice finish. Few spots didn’t connect the way they needed to, but nothing too scary that would damage the match (it did damage Mascarita’s back, tho), so yeah, like this a lot overall.

AAA 2015/1/30

Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Pentagon Jr., Hijo del Fantasma vs. Myzteziz, Psycho Clown, Fenix

Typically fun AAA main event, there was an all-out brawling, wild topes, Perro comedy, Psycho’s insane crowd love, and so on. Top notch entertainment, very enjoyable trio.

ROH 13th Anniversary

(2015/3/1)

Cedric Alexander vs. Matt Sydal

This match had a bunch of Michinoku Pro inspired moves with both guys doing an auto-pilot wrestling, there was very little cohesion or emotional depth here. Kind of like a Michael Bay movie. However, not all Michael Bay movies are terrible. Same with this match, when it’s all said and done it wasn’t bad, it was a decent little jumpfest, good enough for an opener.

ACH vs. AJ Styles

Damn good match, AJ worked more of a heavyweight style in order to oppose to ACH’s highly athletic habits. The match built well, they had good sense for pacing and flow, it was organic despite being spotty. By the way, in the middle of the match Kevin Fucking Disgusting Kelly felt a need to discuss the ODB/Maria match. Yeah, that happened.

ROH World Tag Team Championship: Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) vs. reDRagon (Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish) ©

Rocky Romero joins the commentary table and Kevin Kelly calls him an “all time great”. That’s pure gold right there. Amazing every time with the Bucks on offense doing their phenomenal thing, but at the same time incredibly dull and embarrassing every time with Kyle and Fish doing their godawful shitty thing, Jesus Christ they’re the worst tag team of all time, everything they touch turns into brown shit. They’re such party poopers and the energy goes down every time it’s their turn to run the pace. Fuck them, two boring drones, can’t believe they have fans. The Bucks, on the other hand, were incredible here and not only they saved the match from MMA geeks disaster, they even carried it to borderline greatness, they were innovative and full of charm, such a badass duo that always finds new ways to entertain.

ROH World TV Championship: Alberto el Patron vs. Jay Lethal ©

Massive disappointment and big waste. They basically did a WWE/TNA style bullshit title match with all the interferences, dirty finish and shit. Such a shame because this pairing had a tremendous potential, which was evident in those tiny portions of the match when they were beating the shit out of each other. That was good but of course everything fell apart later in the match due to shitty booking. Fuck you, Ring of Shit!

4-WAY for ROH World Championship: Hanson vs. Tommaso Ciampa vs. Michael Elgin vs. Jay Briscoe ©

Everything about this was absolutely fucking terrible, legit one of the worst main events I’ve ever seen. Fuck this shit and fuck Ring of Shit. Michael Elgin is dirt worst. But hey, at least we’re probably going to see Joe against Jay Briscoe for the strap, so there is some light at the end of tunnel.
