God Bless DDT

Never Mind 2015

(2015/12/23)

1.       Makoto Oishi, Shunma Katsumata, Cherry vs. Yukio Sakaguchi, Saki Akai, Lady Beard

Basic, harmless opener that lasted until Yukio Sakaguchi got sick of everyone’s shenanigans, which was rather funny.

2.       Antonio Honda, Hiroshi Fukuda, Tomomitsu Matsunaga vs. T2Hide (Sanshiro Takagi, Toru Owashi, Kazuki Hirata)

The tagline for the match says “Ultra Heroes EXPO Collaboration Match”, ‘nuff said. It has alien villains and superheros, and DANCING K!!!

GOLD

3.       Daisuke Sasaki vs. Yasu Urano

What actually aired on TV was good, unfortunately they cut off a lot of it, therefore I can’t rate it. Shame.

N/A

4.       4-WAY: Isami Kodaka & Ryota Nakatsu vs. Masa Takanashi & Kota Umeda vs. Keisuke Ishii & Soma Takao vs. Kazusada Higuchi & Suguru Miyatake

This was a decent spotfest that started off as a comedy match, pretty much the filler that served to get everyone on the show.

5.       SPECIAL AMARES RULES MATCH for DDT Extreme Championship: Akito vs. Kendo Kashin ©

One of the very rare DDT matches I rated “bad”, and it had the amazing Akito in it, which is telling a damn lot. Akito is probably a top 3 company wrestler, he deserves much better than this (and I like Kashin!), now that he, Honda and Urano are in the title picture it should be better than what we saw here, Kendo Kashin simply doesn’t belong here, which is quite ironic since he does the mat-based style, it’s just that he’s not good anymore and is very limited in every sense.

bad

6.       TURN BASED RULES: Danshoku Dino & Super Sasadango Machine vs. HARASHIMA & Ken Ohka

Weird match where songs played were determining which team could go on offense, lel. However, it didn’t come off as fun as it might sound. DDT is usually way better at stuff like this.

wat

7.       KO-D Tag Team Championship Tournament – FINAL: Konosuke Takeshita & Tetsuya Endo vs. Yuji Okabayashi & Shigehiro Irie

Pro-wrestling does the best coming-of-age stories, and this fantastic tag team clash was one of them. Takeshita and Endo are not green rookies anymore, but they’re not super experienced either, and then on the opposite side there’s a true force to be reckoned with in Yuji Okabayashi, and there’s homegrown bruiser Shigehiro Irie. Amazing match where you can guess how the story went without me having to write a goddamn thing, I highly recommend this one, fellas!

****1/2
