AAA 11/17: Three Good Tags (Pentagon Is Life)

Pentagon Jr. & Super Fly vs. Aerostar & Australian Suicide

Damn fine tag, two feuds put together made for a heated affair, classic rudos vs. tecnicos battle with bad guys using cheap and dirty brawling moves while good guys hitting high spots to make a comeback. Super Fly challenged Aerostar to a mask match and he accepted, should be good and from what I managed to grasp they’ve been feuding for a long time now, it looks intense, hopefully they pick a predominant brawling route to work that one.

3-WAY: Zema Ion & Robbie E vs. Angelico & Jack Evans vs. Myzteziz & Fenix

Strangely, not a total spotfest, but rather a nice and coherent 3-way tag with well spaced (and paced) dives, Mistico and Fenix have big potential of becoming a killer duo, the TNA guys looked solid, but Jack Evans was fucking awful here, he semi-botched almost every move.

Hell Brothers (Cibernetico, Averno, Chessman) vs. Psycho Circus (Psycho Clown, Murder Clown, Monster Clown)

Another good match between these two trios, the chemistry is there, good build to a title match at Guerra de Titanes. Psycho Clown is still the most over wrestler on the planet, the kids fucking adore him.

Catching Up With New AAA

Campeonateo Crucero de AAA: Aerostar vs. Hijo del Fantasma ©

Good shit right here, both guys busted out some big topes early in the match but then Fantasma imposed his own pace where he controlled the match carefully and methodically, which all built to Aero’s comebacks where it looked like he might pull the win but his bitter nemesis Super Fly appeared which distracted him and ultimately – he screwed himself out of title victory. Good cruiserweight match, they told a nice story.

Villano IV, Pentagon Jr., Steve Pain vs. Blue Demon Jr., Fenix, Bengala

When you’re describing to someone what basic lucha libre looks like, just show them this match. Demon is INSANELY over with the crowd, there are tons of comic book spots and sequences, flying, topes, punches… joyful activities everywhere.

Chessman & Averno vs. Gueros del Cielo (Angelico & Jack Evans)

Basic but good tag with two big bad rudos mauling two skinny ass tecnicos, which inevitably leads to fun and fuel driven comebacks etc. Would’ve been even better without the abrupt ending with gang warfare and stuff.

Texano Jr. & Hijo del Perro Aguayo vs. Myzteziz & Mesias

This was on the verge of being a bloody great tag, but unfortunately there was just too much crowd interacting/pandering, even for lucha, which hurt the flow few times, but other than that this was top notch stuff, super fun match. Mesias and Perro seem to have a great chemistry, I just checked and there’s their 1-on-1 match on YouTube, color me intrigued.

Bits and Pieces of Fresh CMLL

CMLL 2014/9/2

Marco Corleone, Mascara Dorada, Titan vs. Shocker, Ephesto, Hechicero

Some strong names here and it delivered. Hechicero was his usual self, which means great, Shocker and Corleone are having some kind of beef, I don’t know when it started but a potential singles match could be good. Dorada and Titan did their sidekick spots, it was all very nice, this was a fun trio.

Decent MR between two guys I’ve never seen before, which brings me to one question: how big is CMLL roster? I mean, seriously, it’s gotta be fucking gigantic.

Divinos Laguneros (Blue Panther, Black Panther, Cachorro) vs. Cancerberos del Infierno (Virus, Raziel, Cancerbero)

The golden rule of CMLL watching is that you NEVER miss a Virus match, no matter what type it is. Of course, you can say the same about Blue Panther, although sometimes his teammates discourage me, but not here and not this time, his sons Black Panther and Cachorro are amongst best young wrestlers on the planet. Borderline great match, super enjoyable.

Good match, but dragged at times, despite being reasonably short. Thankfully, they topped themselves twenty days later.

Great match, slick and electric, loved tercera, strong finishes for each caida.

Atlantis, Rush, Dragon Rojo Jr. vs. Negro Casas, Rey Escorpion, Niebla Roja

Rush and Casas still hate each other, and rightfully so, there’s a nice brawl to start the match, and it’s cool and all that jazz. In fact, the entire match flew in a somehow easy-going, brawlish mode, really liked it. Funny to see Rush being both booed and cheered throughout the match, depending on a situation, and Casas proved yet again how clever he can be, just look at the finish.

CMLL 2014/8/29

Mr. Niebla, Felino, Cavernario vs. Mascara Dorada, Rey Cometa, Valiente

Not even Mr. Niebla, who is fucking horrible, could ruin this. The main story here is Cavernario vs. Cometa, they’re doing a hair match at the upcoming anniversary show, which should be top notch stuff. Cavernario is proving his versatility, he’s a complete package, IMO: he was super over as a wild tecnico during Busca de un Idolo earlier this year, he’s an awesome rudo now, he can wrestle extremely well, he has a fun gimmick and great look. I hope he climbs the ranks soon, just imagine a potential feuds with with Rush and Shocker, for example.

La Mascara & Mascara Dorada vs. Mephisto & Ephesto

Plenty of ups and downs here, but the ups were great at some places, mainly because of the rudos. I really dig Ephesto, quite a discovery this year.
