Lucha Underground: S2E4

Season 2, Episode 4
aired: 2016/02/17

Sexy Star is running for her life, she bumps into The Mack (presumably somewhere inside The Temple) who is pissed and wants to kill The Moth, but Sexy tells him it's not "him", it's "her", as they look at something in horror. LEL.

Previously on Lucha Underground.

Ivelisse BERSTS into Catrina's office and demands things. But Catrina doesn't want to hear about it. Catrina loves licking things and I love her for it.

The opening trio match was damn good. Castro and Cisco were tremendous street style brawlers. Stiff shots were thrown around. Tecnicos' comeback sequence was great, Angelico killed it. Such a swank TV sprint.

Post-match, Texano Junior storms the ring and shit is on. He's after Chavo BIG TIME.

Johnny Mundo vignette. He's reverse-shooting on Alberto el Patron.

Joey Ryan and Cortez Castro are in locker room and Joey will teach Castro how to act like a true luchador. LEL.

Ryan/Cage was solid, and that's about it. They worked in rollercoaster pace and there was some glaring no-selling. But I wasn't offended too much, because the whole angle was generally decent. The most hilarious part was everyone having to pretend they had no idea who Joey Ryan is. Post-match with Mundo was well done.

Rey Mysterio Junior and El Dragon Azteca are training. Rey-Rey is revealing something something something about Dario's past. Aztec Tribes, something, magic, something, prophecy, eskucha me, something, revenge, something.

Cage versus Mundo announced for next week's main event.

Well, Puma/Pentagon was very good for what obviously looked like just the end of the first stage in their rivalry. The match was only 8 minutes long and they held some things back, plus the finish told the whole story on where these two stand together. We will be seeing more from these two, mos def. Chemistry is there and I imagine an eventual big match blow-off down the road will be crazy and amazing. One thing about this one, though, the finish would've looked better and more compelling if the referee had used both hands for counting.

Post-match was quite interesting, with Puma going Pentagon on Pentagon's arm and then giving up at the last second like a true babyface he is. Pentagon was ashamed and Vampiro looked beyond disappointed in him on commentary. There's still a lot to work on.

Episode rating: GR8.

  1. Ivelisse, Son of Havoc, Angelico vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr., Cortez Castro, Mr. Cisco ***3/4
  2. Joey Ryan vs. Cage **3/4
  3. Prince Puma vs. Pentagon Jr. ***3/4
