SHITE!

AAA Guerra de Titanes 1999
 (1999/12/10)

LUCHA CALLEJERA – Mascara vs. Mascara: Octagon vs. Jaque Mate

One promising thing about this match was the fact that the wrestlers’ seconds were their respective wives. Just imagine the endless possibilities for dramatic storytelling where these middle-aged ladies have to stare in horror as their beloved foodbringers are mauled half to death. Now that would be awesome and plots basically write themselves, right? NOPE! Not here. The first half was some ultra confusing shit with a THIRD lady interfering, then two other guys came, we got a handcuff angle, then we got a tedious brawl through the crowd, and when we finally hit the ring with both dudes ready to fight – it ended. Man, fuck this match, fuck it in the ear!

Solar/Navarro - Part 12,631

AULL 2015/5/9

FLLM Masters Championship: Solar vs. Negro Navarro ©

Oh look, it’s another one in an endless series of mediocre/bad matches between these two. Negro Navarro has to be the most overhyped and overrated internet darling nowadays, right up there with the likes of Finn Balor, Kyle O’Reilly and Timothy Thatcher. Navarro is a very capable brawler, but the mat games are not his thing, and you can’t convince me in the opposite. He pushes for the llaves style but he sucks at it, there’s no sense of escalation or progression in his gameplan, his matches are just endless sessions of soulless holds with too choreographed setups. You could say he’s a spot monkey, only for chain wrestling. He’s a chain monkey! Solar is awesome and I’ve always loved him, but this rivalry with Navarro needs to die already so he can move onto better things.

bad (bcuz of Navarro)

Marcela & Vaquerita vs. Tiffany & Reyna Isis

Solid ladies match that got plenty of time, the spread was proper for every fall, and while there was some aimless roaming, things were mostly held together in a satisfying manner, everything was a movement. I dug the Marcela/Tiffany match-up.

Freshish CMLL

CMLL 2015/5/5

Terrible, Rey Bucanero, Vangelis vs. Ingobernables (Rush, Sombra, Mascara)

This was a solid, hard-hitting brawl that could’ve been much better if it actually got some time, because all three falls were too short here. At least in tercera Rush and Terrible did a surly tribute to their great feud from few years ago.

Demon/Chessman

AAA 2015/5/2

Campeonato Latinoamericano de AAA: Blue Demon Jr. vs. Chessman ©

The first half was clean and really good, they worked old school style with reversals and nearfalls, it was pretty neat. Obviously, it was only a matter of time before things escalated into chaos, considering Hijo del Tirantes was ref and Park and Ciber were the seconds, and then the other Sociedad members got involved as well and things happened. Thankfully they didn’t totally lose control over the match and they managed to take it home in a somehow solid manner, so yeah, this was a good match all things considered, even with the contrasts of the two halfs being significantly different in terms of style.

Lucha Underground: Episode 28

Episode 28

aired: 2015/5/20

I really liked the episode even though the ringwork quality was not as high. Two solid matches and good main event. Marty Martinez got his match and I liked the Big Ryck involvement in Daivari/Texano, it makes so much sense. Main event was really good, even with the botched SSP and few timing issues earlier. Angelico is a total nutjob. The brawling parts were super neat. Dario was priceless once again with all the reactions.

Vampiro's sitdown interview with Mundo was spectacular, Mundo's carrer best mic work and I adored the whole thing. Fantastic.

Catrina is back with her ghost powers, and we'll get some more of Fenix/MM, fuck yes. Dario sold this perfectly.

Black Lotus thinks she's ready for Matanza and leaves the training drills. Classic rookie overconfidence. Chavo is back, I quite like it (LU has made me like Chavo Guerrero Jr., nuff said). El Dragon Azteca doesn't like the Guerrero familia. The entire story is awesome.

The Crew might consider skipping the job over the next month or so.

No. 1 Cont. for NXT Championship: Tyler Breeze vs. Finn Balor

Well, this sucked, Finn Balor was awful and Breeze is a much better wrestler but just couldn’t save the match. The match was so cold, tame and edgeless. Balor’s entrance theme is also the WOAT.

bad

NXT Women’s Championship: Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks ©

Incredible match and I’m quite damn shocked! Or maybe I shouldn’t be, because Sasha is fabulous and here match with Charlotte Flair was outstanding, but I’ve never seen or heard of Becky Lynch before, and it fucking turns out she’s right up there with Sasha, maybe even better at some areas! Fucking WOW! This was just beautiful, both girls focused on each other’s arm and it was both brutal and gracious at the same time, felt like a groovy mix of Yuki Ishikawa and Virus. Both chicks sold super and the pacing was tremendous, not to mention the amazing finish. I fucking loved this, hands down the best all things WWE match of the year, yes – even better than Reigns/Bryan from Fastlane.

P.S. And holy shit, is that Drake Younger refereeing the match? Huh…

NXT Championship: Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens ©

Great little brawl with Zayn looking for shortcuts and relying on bomb-throwing since his arm is injured and he can’t work a long match, that’s some good planning and strategy. I really liked this, the brawling portions were intense and well done, the in-ring stuff was vivid, the only flaw is kind of messy finish with all the refs looking like retards and the official call was never made. Samoa Joe made his debut and a potential match with Steen is the first Joe match I’m looking forward to since… uh… 2011? I don’t know anymore. Needless to say, the announcers were fucking HORRIBLE at calling his debut.

CMLL Bastante Nuevo

CMLL 2015/5/5

Campeonato Mundial de Parejas CMLL: Atlantis & Blue Panther vs. Negro Casas & Shocker ©

Really good match, but not a worthy follow-up to the all-out brawl from a week before. The primera got a plenty of time and it was spent on the mat for its entirety, the match-ups were Casas/Panther and Shocker/Atlantis, they worked tight hold-for-hold style and it was great, basically the entire primera was a mini-match perfection. The segunda was a nothing fall, it went under two minutes and really it was just a cheap CMLL trick we see all the time. The tercera looked very promising based on video time, but unfortunately it was quite short, way shorter than primera and also some weird shit happened in there. I really have no idea why they held back in the tercera, instead of going full throttle they worked a low-bump style that seemed more like a table-setting of some form, instead of culmination of previous work in the match.

Campeonato Mundial Trios del CMLL: Guerreros Laguneros (Ultimo Guerrero, Euforia, Gran Guerrero) vs. Sky Team (Mistico, Volador Jr., Valiente) ©

This was so similar to the previous match, the primera got over 10 minutes and it was glorious, it was mostly spent on the mat (GG/Valiente, Euforia/Mistico, UG/Volador) and it felt really natural and organic, the pacing was great. Then the segunda happened and it was really short, CMLL style, and the tercera was good in places, but also too by-the numbers in other places. But as a whole, this was a damn fine and enjoyable match, even though it doesn’t touch some other efforts from the rivalry.

Campeonato Nacional Peso Welter: Barbaro Cavernario vs. Titan ©

Goddamn amazing match where every fall got enough time to develop stories and subplots, it was truly awesome. The primera was a swell back-and-forth matfest that escalated into semi-big moves which the Caveman won, and thus he gained tremendous confidence that carried into the segunda where he properly beat the shit out of Titan, whose eventual comeback was excellent. And then the last fall was the very best CMLL style could offer, there was a lot of big moves and smart callbacks and cut-offs that linked to their previous clashes. Cavernario didn’t do his crazy, knee-shattering splash to the floor (which is good for his health), instead he let Titan do it instead of him, hehe, who cares, Titan’s crazy anyway. Really amazing lucha title match and it’s so fucking beautiful that both Dragon Lee and Cavernario are singles champions at the same time, it means CMLL is doing at least something right. Now, if only they put some strap on The Panther too, I’d never say one bad word against them again.

Sky Team (Mistico, Volador Jr., Valiente) vs. Hijos del Infierno (Mephisto, Ephesto, Luciferno)

Solid two fall sprint, but nothing to write home about, except for Sky Team triple dive that’s tailormade for highlight reels.

Mercurio, Pequeno Olimpico, Pequeno Violencia vs. Shockercito, Stukita, Electrico

Fun, vivid minis’ sprint with constant movement and rapid fire exchanges. Shockercito and Stukita shined in terms of slick techniques and athleticism, while Mercurio shined at being a great dickbag.

Another neat trio from Virus, Tiger and the Panther boys, about what you expect from them, grand stuff all around, highlighted by STUPENDOUSLY beautiful tope from The Panther.
