Road to Destruction 2014: Blue Justice V

Road to Destruction 2014: Blue Justice V

(2014/9/7)

1.      Yohei Komatsu vs. Sho Tanaka

Fierce match between the Young Lions with plenty to prove, they’re obviously talented and work hard to move up the totem pole down the road, hopefully they go to international excursion soon and meet in a 15 min contest when they come back one day. In the meantime, I’m just sit and enjoy their endless series of showcase matches.

**3/4

2.      Taichi vs. Maximo

Funny and focused, about what you’d expect from a clash of personalities like this. Taichi is the wrestling GOD and I enjoy Maximo’s work much more here in New Japan.

3.      Ryusuke Taguchi, Jushin Liger, Tiger Mask vs. Time Splitters (KUSHIDA & Alex Shelley) & BUSHI

Short and super fan Junior 6-man tag sprint, nice prelude to Taguchi/KUSHIDA.

***1/2

4.      Suzuki-gun (Takashi Iizuka, TAKA Michinoku, Desperado) vs. CHAOS (Toru Yano, Rocky Romero, Alex Koslov)

Good brawl, funny thing is that an eventual Yano/Iizuka match doesn’t have to be a total trainwreck based on what I’ve witnessed in all these prelude multi-man tags. Also, Desperado is improving more and more each and every tour.

5.      Hirooki Goto, Tetsuya Naito, Cpt. New Japan vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi, Togi Makabe, Tomoaki Honma

Good shit with both teams having a relentless underdog on their side, there’s this Goto/Makabe beef that is leading to what should be a helluva brawl in Kobe, there are Tanahashi and Naito adding their color too, swell 6-man tag.

***1/2

6.      CHAOS (Kazuchika Okada, Shinsuke Nakamura, Tomohiro Ishii, YOSHI-HASHI, Gedo) vs. Bullet Club (Bad Luck Fale, Karl Anderson, Doc Gallows, Yujiro Takahashi, Tama Tonga)

The rivalry of the year goes on and produces another good match.

***3/4

7.      TenKoji (Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima) vs. Yuji Nagata & Manabu Nakanishi

This was a borderline great veteran tag, I loved almost everything about it. Nagata is the hometown hero, which adds more fuel to his already heated arsenal. MOTN, yes, slightly better than the 10-man tag.

***3/4

Nice, fun show with a bunch of good matches.
