vs. Rayo de Jalisco Jr.
Wow, what a
superb match, such a tremendous “discovery” I checked the moment I saw it
uploaded on YouTube. Lucha really is loaded with hidden gems, including big
apuesta matches with famous stars. This was magnificent and followed your
classic big match formula that always works, with three acts of rudo
domination, tecnico comeback and tercera restart with big moves and drama.
Egipcio was an awesome bruiser in first two falls, giving some really hard time
to Rayo Jr., and the latter sold it perfectly, he was making those torture
screams and noises, it was scary good and compelling. Third fall was pure
perfection and what really launched this match into the stratosphere. Marvelous
high-end shit with a plethora of mesmerizing workrate pieces, big moves,
dramatic pin attempts and Arena Mexico going crazy. Incredible match.

Cabellera vs. Cabellera:
Pierroth Jr. vs. Hector Garza
Not a good
hair match. I mean, it did have some really cool and swank moments, and
obviously they all came from Hector, but overall it was just an average lucha
de apuesta. Pierroth was clearly too limited and couldn’t do shit, hence
primera and segunda being nothing but short Perros del Mal vs. Boricuas
shenanigans. Tercera was better, but it wasn’t enough to make this match good.
But even with everything going against him, Hector still managed to showcase
his impeccable style and incredible techniques.

Mascara vs. Mascara:
Sepulturero vs. Mistico
Classic
primera and segunda, with Sepulturero dominating in a vintage rudo fashion,
winning the first fall, being all over Mistico in segunda before an inevitable
loss, and then they restart everything for long tercera. But unfortunately, the
last fall wasn’t all that interesting, it was too long and they clearly
struggled with getting a plenty of time, they didn’t know what to do with it.
They didn’t butcher the match, but they didn’t enhance it either. Everything
before La Mistica was a waste of time. Primera and segunda saved this match.
