Daga & Steve Pain vs. Ludxor & Fireball (aka Flamita)

I’m not big on Flamita, so this was a surprisingly good debut match for him in my eyes. Probably because of Daga, though, who made sure things were kept tight and focused, which made for an easy watch where you can keep up with the flow and spots. So, yeah, I just praised Daga, something I’ve never done before. But he was awesome here, and now I don’t know whether it’s his intention or not to come across as a New Japan Junior Heavyweight to distinguish himself from the AAA bunch, but in this match it totally worked, matter face it made the match good. Ludxor was on and off, mostly off, and Pain was just kind of – there, so this was a Daga show featuring Flamita, and I would really like to see them in a mano a mano after watching this showdown.

Taya & Carta Brava Jr. vs. Goya Kong & Nino Hamburguesa

Another super fun match, but for all the different reasons. Goya and Nino are a perfect duo and watching them against Taya and Carta was awesome, Taya and Goya better feud for a long time, because there’s some serious potential in that rivalry, we’re barely even scratched the surface. This match was a believable mixture of a light-hearted stuff and serious stuff. Charm everywhere.

Mamba, Mini Psycho Clown, Mini Charly Manson vs. Pimpinela Escarlata, Dinastia, Mini Drago

Such a sweet and ultra fast-paced sprint, that’s what you get when you put four quality minis in a match, it also lit some fire under Pimpi’s ass, who delivered a superb performance here, including that fabulous finish. Super quick armdrags, vivid rope-running, crazy ‘ranas, etc. More matches like these, please AAA!

Hell Brothers (Cibernetico, Chessman, Averno) vs. Myzteziz, Aerostar, Argenis

Rare Hell Brothers match that wasn’t just a standard three act brawl. Not that there’s anything wrong with those. This also started as a brawl, and it was great, all the babyfaces were bumping around hard, even Ciber looked compelling and motivated for once. Poor Aerostar is so small, you only really get that when you see him in the ring next to heavyweights. Even Averno towers over him. The tecnico comeback was awesome and all the eventual cutoffs by Hell Brothers were purposeful and added a lot. There was a DQ finish that was supposed to advance Averno vs. Myzteziz some more, but obviously that’s not gonna happen now that Myzteziz turned rudo at TripleMania. But still, in a vacuum, that was one great finish and the post-match rocked as well.

3-WAY BULL TERRIER MATCH: Brian Cage vs. Mesias vs. Alberto el Patron

Really interesting idea, a 3-way chain match. And hey, look, they actually executed it very well, even though the majority of it was a 3-on-1 handicap match (Tirantes, of course). This wasn’t a walk through the park, hell no, as we got two portions of really stiff chairshots to the head, Alberto’s on Cage were particularly brutal and looked very nasty. Alberto got slammed through a big wood board as well. Eventually Mesias and Cage turned on each other, which was inevitable and it didn’t take away from the match. The ending was a perfect setup for a big TripleMania hair vs. hair match and they did a good job in building towards it.
