(Relatively) Newish CMLL

One week after Dragon Lee vs. Virus, here we are with another fantastic title match that rocked on every level imaginable. Here are three absolutely excellent wrestlers, with two of them having particularly stellar years, and Delta, who is “just” good, lol, so of course this was bound for greatness. It’s shocking to see a pure llave primera that lasts for 10 clean minutes in modern CMLL, and that’s exactly what happened here, 10 smashing minutes of two duos going hold-for-hold, paying respect to this very important institute of a championship lucha, sumptuous struggling on the mat, gracious and aesthetic yet so grueling and punishing. The gradual escalation was beautifully paced, for example my favorite moment in the match is at the beginning of the tercera where Maya and Hech are about to chain wrestle on the ground only to have Cavernario going “NO MORE OF THIS SHIT!” and storming into the ring to beat the shit out of Maya. OUTSTANDING! The entire tercera was phenomenal really, there was drama, swank reversals, heat, Maya’s insane dive into the crowd, etc. Superb tag title match, what a fabulous way to end the great year for CMLL.

The ugly side of Volador strikes again. Also, the ref botched the finish, oh man that was bad, bad to the point where the wrong man won.

MATCH RELAMPAGO: Cavernario vs. Valiente

Good MR with another highly energetic Cavernario showcase, two killer topes from Valiente and an awesome finish. Goddamn, I adore these lightning matches in CMLL.

MATCH RELAMPAGO: Blue Panther Jr. vs. Tiger

Another good MR, the opening matwork was good enough for two guys this young, the gradual high impact progression was also well done, nice little match overall. BPJ is definitely improving as an early total package, but Tiger is the one who really got to shine here, he’s becoming a must-see prelim guy.

Vivid female smackdown full of natural intensity and animosity, I loved it. These CMLL chicks can fight, I’m telling you.

Fun trio made by awesome Sombra/UG sequences, the gang brawling parts in the first two falls were cute.

Good trio. Fuck my lazy reviews, but it is what it is, waddaya gonna do. Okay, they hit each other hard and there was some surly hair pulling. There, at least I tried. :p
